Animal Antics

I'm starting to feel like a total loser. As usual, I have nothing exciting to report other than animal stories. It's quite sad really.

And update on Fred Slowskie: Yes, Marianne, he is the long lost son of Bill and Carolyn Slowskie of Comcast commercial fame.

He also made it safely to the rescue group without incident. He was very cute. And now he's actually safe too! yeah!

In other news, I'd like to report that it is, in fact, very trying to be a diva. I tried to take Chance out for a walk while talking on my cell phone. I gotta keep in touch with my peeps, ya know! So I'm walking the dog (rather, he's walking me) and I've got him on one of those retractable leashes...and to be perfectly honest, I have not been properly trained in the execution of walking and retracting and extending, and whatnot.

So we're walking around the park and and I'm chatting (hi Tracy!) and Chance TAKES OFF! Apparently he has spotted a squirrel. And I'm trying to hold my phone, keys, and retract RETRACT! But to no avail. Chance has chased the squirrel around the tree. and I'm yelling at him to stop. And then I realize, my dog is a f*ing cowboy! He has used his leash to lasso the squirrel...tying it to the tree. Luckily, after the poor little thing was pinned between the leash and the tree, Chance decided he wasn't that interested. I was able to unwind him and the squirrel darted up the tree.

I guess I'm just lucky I didn't top it off with a wardrobe malfunction!

Oh my goodness--poor little squirrel! LOL I have also tried the art of walking my dog while talking on the cell...it's never really a great idea I've learned! :-)

That's hilarious. Poor Skippy Squirrel. At least he got away.

OMG! I didn't realize from the other end of the line that it was quite that dramatic.

Take heart...if it had been me, landing on my ass after first being dragged 50 feet, and copious amounts of Bactine would have been involved. With an audience of many. You know it's true...

So glad the squirrel made it!!

You sound so graceful. Seriously, you and your puppy are like tiny ballerinas!

That squirrel had to be TERRIFIED! And just that quickly, Chance is over it, lol. Meanwhile, you and the squirrel are left wondering what the heck just happened. The visual is quite fabulous.

Sounds like something my dog would do. Glad the squirrel's ok. I guess it's the chase they love the most--typical male :o)

Speaking of taking the dog for a walk...sorry I missed you in my 'hood the other night.

Now all Chance needs is a teeny little cowboy hat and you're all set.

Was the squirrel hissing? My dog trapped a squirrel in our backyard and that thing was hissing and squealing so loud, then she finally caught it and snapped its back in half before I could stop her. Poor squirrel was bent at a right angle.

I blame the squirrel though, he was the one who ventured into a fenced in yard that housed a 70 lb golden retreiver.
