Not Enough Nice Things

I can't say enough nice things about Mark. Sometimes he laughs when I'm serious, but sometimes he goes along me.

The latest example includes this!
We found a turtle!

Wait, let me rephrase. I found a turtle.

I was driving to get dinner, and there was something in the road (the road we turn out of our street onto). Whatever it was, it was in the middle of the road. And so I avoided it, and as I passed, I realized it was a turtle! (he had his little head up!)

So I called my mom and told her to tell Mark that I found a turtle and he should go get it. (I didn't think he would, but i hoped he would) Well, he did! he brought the turtle back. So I made some phone calls to see what to do with him (we don't need another pet) and I found a turtle rescue! hehe. So I have to give them a call tomorrow.

For now, the turtle (fred slowskie) is sitting comfortably in the backyard with his own (small) pond and a pear.

Heeee! Fred is too cute. We had a turtle growing up.... but that's a story for another day.

Still sweet of Mark to go rescue him!

So you took this turtle from his natural habitat and are going to stick him in a rescue? Maybe he was on his way home? Seems kind of harsh.

No, I am not a member of PETA, before anyone asks.

Is he related to the Slowskis who do the Comcast ads?

I adore you guys. So cute.

I saved a worm this morning. Really. It was burning up on the side walk so I put it in the grass.

My mom has a pet turtle, he lives in the tub of the downstairs bathroom and has for several years. His aquarium had a crack in it, so we put him in the bathtub for a few days until we could replace the aquarium... and decided that the tub was roomier, easier to clean and since no one was using it to bathe in, would make the perfect home. My mom calls him Tickle, but I prefer calling her Myrtle; Myrtle the Turtle has such a nice ring to it. ;)

Oh I love that! This reminded me of the day I KNEW I loved my husband. We were driving to the beach and he stopped in the middle of the road suddenly. He got out and picked up the turtle who was trying to cross the road and brought him to the side he was trying to get to. Keep us updated on where he goes. What a lucky turtle!

not that slinger will read this but...

He was in the middle of the street. the only natural habitat within a mile is a poluted concrete canal full of car parts and shopping carts. A rescue will make sure he is healthy and if anything return him to a safe natural habitat where he can not get run over by a car.

Aww. Finally a non-horrid friend for Chance (you know I'm talking about the Snake Beast, right?) Has that thing died yet? Of natural causes of course.

Well now with that sort of treatment, he's not going to want to leave to go to the turtle rescue. Rather posh digs he's got there.

Awwww, Aimee that is SO cute!! I think you should keep him! How precious......

But ummm, what was he doin in the middle of a street? I wonder if he belongs to somebody. Poor guy, he's an orphan.

And 2 cheers for Mark! (he gets 3 if you guys decide to keep him, lol)

Mark: I did read it!

Maybe he owned one of those cars? Kidding. I was being sarcastic on the first comment, but now that I read it it does look like I was sincerely concerned for the little guy. My sensitive side coming out I guess.

Hope he likes his new home.

Dude, you guys ROCK! *clap*

slinger: When I saw the peta comment I figured you were being sarcastic. No worries, we all know you really don't have a sensitive side. ha!

and he did end up at the rescue. the lady said he was a slider turtle and she rehabilitates them and finds them homes (with ponds!) So, he's probably a happy camper. Although, I did start to worry that i displaced him from his family...you know, in a shopping cart in the canal.
