Legacy of Love

I've thought about blogging for the last week. But I wasn't sure what to say or how to say it. I'm still not sure. But it's time to say something.

Last week, Mark's grandma passed away.

I really don't know what to say other than that we both loved her very much and miss her. I really admired her spirit of giving. She was always helping someone. She spent time at the church cooking meals and working in the food closet. She was always going....people to see, things to do. It meant a lot to me that she invited me in and treated me like family, even going so far as to say she hoped that I would be her granddaughter some day. I'm very glad that we live so close were able to spend so much time with her.

I know that she was strong in her faith and that she has gone to heaven to join those who went before her. I know that she is finally free of pain and of the cancer that she fought over the last year.

As for those of us left behind, we're doing okay. We went to the memorial services over the weekend and heard a lot of stories. Some funny (Grandma was a sassy lady!) and others very sweet. (again, she was loved by many). It was a very touching tribute to someone very special.

Legacy of Love.

A wife, a mother, a grandma too,
This is the legacy we have from you.
You taught us love and how to fight,
You gave us strength, you gave us might.
A stronger person would be hard to find,
And in your heart, you were always kind.
You fought for us all in one way or another,
Not just as a wife not just as a mother.
For all of us you gave your best,
Now the time has come for you to rest.
So go in peace, you've earned your sleep,
Your love in our hearts, we'll eternally keep.
