Life via Text

A conversation over text:

Me: You know, I really am undecided on that whole do I want kids thing. One one hand I LOVE Aubrey on the other hand I just yelled at some neighborhood kid, "Get out of the street you little asshole!"

Flutter: OMG I HEART you.

In my defense, the little jerks darling little boys were playing football in the street. Okay, no problem. But then the cars came (there was a car in front of us) and we slowed down waiting for them to get the hell out of the street already move aside politely. And one kid runs in the middle of the street in front of the other car (like following the road) and another one is standing enough of the way over that he's technically out of the way, but still in the street. And the little f*cker is raising his arms up at the two cars like, "What?!" and I'm thinking, Oh no he didn't! So I take the time to roll down the window to call him an asshole.

I am justified in this because:
1) he was totally being a little asshole
2) he was 8/9 which is old enough to know to get out of the street
3) I know he's probably heard that kind of language before considering his parents are obviously really bad at parenting because they leave him outside to be disrespectful and to run around in the streets.
::takes a breath::

I did however, have enough heart to feel bad once it was over. I was totally impressed by the little bastard because he was nice enough to not flip me off.

i still heart you. oh, and also, i feel the same way about marriage that you do about kids. i see some relationships and i'm all 'if i'm guaranteed that kind of relationship, sign me up!' and then i see others and i'm all 'nope. not for me. going to back away slowly. and then RUN like hell in the other direction.' so we're in the same chapter, just on a different page. :P

oh, and those relationships that make me want to run away? usually mine. :P

I would have sweetly called him a bastard, but I like the choosing of asshole. A little stronger, but quite appropriate for a 8-9 year old. They would probably go home and have to have bastard explained to them.

It is baffling to me that any boy who is allowed to play, bike, skateboard, etc... near a street lives to adulthood!

OMG were you driving down my street when this happened??? We have this shit happen at the end of my block (which happens to be the ONLY entry way into our street) just about daily! Its fricken annoying and dangerous at the same time! I hate those ghetto ass kids & their parents!

And you're right, its all about parenting b/c I can tell you my girls are not even ALLOWED anywhere near the street more or less IN the damn street!

I love it. First of all, everyone does it. Second, people are allowed to call their own kids assholes (behind their backs) and they love them unconditionally where as we have no reason to love the little asshole in the street. Third, I have to pretend I love hundreds of little assholes on a daily basis, you'll be fine when you're ready :)

Next thing you know, you'll have some mean ole mom banging on your door. LOL

I walked out on my nephew today and told him I didn't want to play with a baby. Tell me...was I the baby?

There's an unwritten law in MY book of law that stray children can always be corrected when they need it. Plus it's practice for when you have your own. But OMG, stray children are always much worse than your own. Seriously.

When I see such bad parenting, I just consider it random birth control sprinkled throughout my world. Because really? Nothing is better birth control than snotty little kids!

All the little neighborhood kids play in the street here too & I HATE it!

Wow. Probably the first time anyone has treated him like anything resembling an adult.
