This One's For The Girls

I have tried writing this first sentence several times. While doing my run today (again, on the treadmill at the gym - the wind has been crazy!) I was thinking about my friends. Making a sweeping general THANK YOU to all of you - my bloggy friends. As I was running I hit a point where I thought, I can walk...I'll just slow down and walk. And I thought, if I were blogging right now, my girls wouldn't let me stop. They think I can do it. And I did! So thanks!

Today was a really good friendship day. When I got home I got a cute card in the mail from one of you - my (not so) sneaky little blogger friends. It totally put a smile on my face - because geezus, could that card have been more appropriate? I think not!

AND earlier in the day, I was emailing back and forth with another friend. In one of her emails she complimented me on my ability to talk her down when she's stressed out. It was a really nice compliment. Because I know that she's done the same for me. It's good to know I can return the favor.

One of the amazing things about this friend is that we are soooo different, and yet soooo much alike. And while one moment we can be happy and the next we can be ready to stab someone in the neck. (or you know, wherever.) We have been very lucky in that we usually switch off - so one of us can talk the other down.

I've come to really value this person's opinions and advice. I envy her ability to accept change and to thrive in situations; you know, with just a little kicking and screaming. I'm really glad that I can count her as one of my closest friends (even if she is particularly far away).

"This One's For The Girls" - Martina McBride

This one's for all you girls about thirteen
High school canbe so rough, can be so mean
Hold onto, on to your innocence
Stand your ground when everyone's giving in

This one's for the girls

This is for all you girls about twenty-five
In a little apartment, just trying to get by
Living on, on dreams and spaghetti-o's
Wondering where you life is gonna go

This one's for the girls
Who've ever had a broken heart
Who've wished upon a shooting star
You're beautiful the way you are
This one's for the girls
Who love without holding back
Who dream with everything they have
All around the world
This one's for the girls

This is for all you girls about forty-two
Tossing pennies into the Fountain of Youth
Every laugh, laugh line on your face
Made you who you are today

You're such a doll! Honestly, before I got down to your Martina McBride song, "I Hope You Dance" was running through my head. Dance, Aimee, dance! ;-)

I feel the same way about my bloggy friends--especially a couple weeks ago when I was having all that girl drama!

I'm glad you didn't stop on the treadmill. That's, like, 90% of the battle.

You are amazing. You know you were one of the people that inspired me to do WW and now look at you joining a running team. Not to mention the gorgeous pictures of you. You keep up the hard work.

I love my blog family too. I think of all of you all of the time. I hate being so far away from all of them. But soon I am going to actually meet them. I can't even call you guys friends. It is more like family.

If I would have known I was going to make such great friends on the interwheb, I would have started a blog long ago. I don't even know what initially brought you and I together (Amalah's comments section perhaps?) but I am eternally grateful for whatever it was.

:-) sneaky sneaky

What a great post...I totally know what you mean. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I've never met you guys. I'll be telling Edgar things and I'll say something like, "Well Aimee..." and then I'll have to stop and explain that you're a blog friend, etc., but to me, I feel like I really KNOW my blog friends!!
