Things I Could Blog About That Would Be Much More Interesting If I Could Find My Camera Charger
Things have been pretty busy here. But like I said, this would all be much more interesting if I could find that elusive camera charger. grrr. Instead of going to Blogher, I painted my living room. And it looks fabulous. It went from being 4 walls of off white to being 2 off white walls and 2 taupe walls. It really warmed up the room and separated it more from the kitchen area.
I've also been teaching myself to can/preserve. Mark and Kait helped me peel a frillion peaches....which netted us 7 quarts of peaches! Definitely not as much as I thought we'd get. And if I never see another peach - it will be too soon. So, I switched to strawberries. I made 4 jars of strawberry jam (and it's delicious).
I peeled and sliced the rest of the peaches and froze them - they will be good for smoothies and baked goods that way. I cannot wait to make pickles and can pears! mmmmm!
Mark's good. We're good. He's been cooking really good food for me lately, which is always much appreciated. We haven't really done much outside of the house. We went to a baptism last weekend. And his Thursday night softball team played really well last week. All of us in the bleachers were yelling and jumping around. It was super fun.
The animals are all doing well too. Minnie is starting to integrate into the household. She hisses when she thinks anyone is getting too close (but she's stopped hissing when Chance is just in her line of vision - so that's good). Jack got to her a couple times and there was some fur flying (she hasn't tried to bite anyone though...and she's hardly ever the aggressor.) The one time she was the aggressor, she was putting Jack in his place. After he beat her up twice....she waited until things were calm and when he walked past her, she reached out and smacked him twice on the rear end. She was too cute.
Chance is doing well. He's drinking a lot of water (apparently a side effect of having the liver problem). And the water drinking is causing him to wake me up three times during the night to go potty. :( But his attitude is good and he's been playful. So for now, I'd say he's doing well.
I think that's all for me. I've got a ton of stuff to do this week. Book club on Monday (you should read our recent book - Remember Me? by Sophie Kinsella - it's really good). On Tuesday we have the award reception for the Y-Me walk we did on Mother's Day (our team raised over $1,500), and Wednesday a bunch of us are going to see the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II. It's gonna be a fun week.
What are you guys up to this week?

Huggy Church & a Happy Anniversary
This weekend wasn't all that thrilling. I can't remember most of it. I think Mark worked a lot. yes! he did! he worked on friday night and went fishing on saturday. I think I slept. a lot.
I like sleep.
On Sunday, Flutter and I went to a new church. We call it Huggy Church. (the guy giving us our programs gave us hugs - but he gave hugs to everyone so it wasn't tooooo creepy.) AND we actually LOVED this church. It was big enough so that we didn't stick out like "hey! look! new girls!" and it was small enough that people seemed to know each other.
The music was fabulous and contemporary (the singer looked like Aiden from John and Kate plus 8 - only older, obviously) The Senior Pastor was a great speaker. and the sermon was fabulous. He had a way of speaking that was almost like a comedian. Like, he said something funny and kept a straight face. I really liked him. They kept the tithing till the very end which I thought was interesting. overall this church is winning in the race by a mile.
After church we stopped for lunch and then I took a nice long nap. Mark and I went on a double date with B&K to Benihana for dinner. (the 20th was also our anniversary and Benihana is where we had our first date 3 years+ ago) Dinner was really fun. Mark and I really like hanging out with B&K. He and K have gotten to be pretty good friends and I met B a frillion years ago - in third grade. They are good people. And their puppy is just toooo darling.
Overall it was a nice weekend.

Update
Mom is doing well after her surgery. It was pretty darn short and she got to go home by noon! Now she's taking pain meds and trying to keep the cats from jumping on her. good times!
I'm looking forward to a weekend where we have very little on the calendar. and by we, I mean me because Mark is booked solid through the weekend. He's working tonight and then going fishing at the butt crack of dawn on Saturday. Come to think of it, I have no idea when he plans to come home either. I should probably ask about that. Sunday is our anniversary (3 years y'all!) We have plans to go to Benihana with our friends B&K and we get to see their new puppy Bailey! yeah!!

A Sick Sick V-day
I know you're thinking that "sick sick" must equal perversion. Of course, you'd only assume that if you've been reading regularly. But no, I really mean - YES we're STILL SICK. However, we are feeling better - we're just not feeling well. ::sigh::
The last few days have been a cold medicine blur. And after shelling out a copay so that the doctor can tell me, "yeah, there's nothing I can do. we're done here" and me saying something to the effect of "why should I stand in a line to checkout if you did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING?!" And then something like, "um, yeah, I'm thinking that if at the end of the day you still have me in the system - someone will figure that I did, indeed, leave."
But whatever.
So I'm only coughing/choking/not breathing a few times a day rather than once an hour. So that's good. And Mark and I were able to taste my favorite chinese takeout that we ate in front of the TV watching Judge Judy and Dr. Phil (does he love me or what?!) And while we watched Wedding Daze, we indulged in ice cream and personalized M&Ms that say "Mark + Aimee" I'd say things are definitely looking up.
We've decided to keep our fancy dinner reservations for tomorrow - and just hope that we can both taste by 6 p.m. tomorrow. (send good tasting vibes - omg, that's a search for another website. LOL)
And because the night has been so nice, I won't even elaborate on the poor kitty foaming at the mouth because he had to take really horrid antibiotics. Poor baby.
Happy Valentine's Day!

It's Him or Me
Mark and I had this conversation regarding my fear of leaving the house because we have a praying mantis on our porch, as a result of me not being able to move the water hose because that would mean I'd have to walk onto the porch.
Me: "You're in charge of moving the water today. The praying mantis is back."
Mark: "You know this is a little silly. You realize that the females rip of the heads of the males right?"
Me: "yeah, but it could totally fly at me and like, touch me!"
Mark: "I'm male. It could rip my head off!"
Me: "that's a chance I'm willing to take."
